The Canarian Government have announced that the tender for the new dual carriage between Caldereta and the airport will go out to tender in the next few weeks.
The road will cost approximately 100 million euros for the 17 km link.

My opinion - If the Corralejo to Caldereta road is anything to go by then it might be open in 2028!

Always the optimist Stephen Big Grin Big Grin

On the flipside, there may be enough traffic by then to warrant it,
True Captain, it'll take ages until we have an motorway from Corralejo with Morro Jable.

Anyone shocked by the 100 million budget? It could get much dearer. Back in the UK £16 million per mile of M25 in 2014. Info taken of House of Commons Web (parliament.uk):

Quote:Traditional motorway widening is extremely expensive and disruptive. There is generally no hard shoulder while construction is underway. The precise costs of a motorway widening scheme will vary according to the location, due to differences in landscape, land costs, and the cost of environmental undertaking and mitigation. Traditional motorway widening is now relatively rare. To take an example, the M25 J27–30 motorway widening scheme cost £272.4 million96 in 2002 figures (the figures used in the 2014 post-project evaluation). This is roughly £16.2 million per mile. In 2008, in the same written answer that gave the cost of the M42 Active Traffic Management pilot at £9.0 million per mile, the estimated cost of one mile of standard 3-lane motorway with a hard shoulder was said to be between £21.4 million and £35.0 million. This puts the cost of traditional motorway widening, both in terms of actual construction cost and the disruption caused, far above the costs of all smart motorway schemes.
They need a few paddies to show them how to build proper roads. 🤪🤪🤪

I don’t think so, best at building roads on time and on budget are the Polish.
Has the actual route been determined? Any maps anyone?
The only map I've ever seen is the one from Cabildo, where they complain to the Spanish government about the Army demanding more land in El Matorral. Unfortunately it reveals (just a tiny part of) this and the next stage of the road.
Surely it must be, how on earth do you quote for some undetermined length of a road? { hold on I forgot this was Spain Smile  }
Another report to say that the Caldereta to Puerto section is going out to tender soon.

The Gobierno de Canarias has athorised the Money for the project and it quotes that -
'Due to the complexity of the works to be undertaken in this new section, an execution period of 54 months has been established, so the authorized investment today will involve a multi-annual expense with the following annual payments: 8,730,087 euros in 2020; 24,007,739 in 2021; 28,372,783 in 2022; 30,555,305 in 2023; 26,190,261 in 2024, and 11,785,617 in 2025.'

Approx 126 million euros in total over the length of the project. That is one hell of a price IMHO
