In order to cope with the increase in the price of both energy and fuels caused by the context of the war in Ukraine, the Council of Ministers approved on 1st August the Royal Decree-Law on economic sustainability measures in the field of transport, for recurrent users. The Ministry of Transport of the island institution, joins these measures to contribute to the citizenship that has been affected socially and economically, after the increase in fuel costs.
For the president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Sergio Lloret, "this measure is another example of the commitment of the Government group to bet on public transport and to support students and users of this service. The Ministry of Transport, Accessibility and Mobility will draw up the Fuerteventura Island Transport and Sustainable Mobility Plan 2023-2026. Suggestions can be delivered to a mailbox located in that station, through the website itself or in any general or auxiliary registry of the Cabildo.

Almost €3 million from the EU for electric buses in Fuerteventura.

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Crafts, receives a total of 2,828,038.16 million euros from the Next Generation funds destined to the Shock Plan for Sustainable, Safe and Connected Mobility in Urban and Metropolitan Environments, within the Program for the Implementation of Low Emission Zones. To obtain this amount, three lines of action were presented, which are the ones that will be developed. A first consisting of the implementation of electric buses on the Puerto del Rosario-airport line. A second of equal vehicles for the Puerto del Rosario-Corralejo bus line and a third axle for the implementation of smart canopies.

 

The Minister of Industry, Domingo Pérez, is very satisfied with the receipt of this subsidy, "since it allows Fuerteventura to continue betting on sustainability, and gradually replace the public transport buses of fossil fuels, by zero-emission electric vehicles, a clear commitment to the environment, which from this ministry is being promoted and in which we will continue working".
