Blue Flag beaches
#1
Radio Sintonia:

Puerto del Rosario once again boasts of beaches with the Blue Flag award.

From this Friday, July 7, the beaches ofLos Pozos, Puerto Lajas and Playa Blanca wear the blue flags with which they were awarded last May by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands. An award that distinguishes them as spaces of clean, safe, comfortable waters, respectful with the environment and equipped with complementary services according to their purpose of use and enjoyment, as pointed out by the Association of Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC), entity that grants the award.

Puerto del Rosario once again boasts of Blue Flag
The act of hoisting the blue flag was attended by the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, the Councilor for Beaches, Toñi Fernández Aragón, and the Councilor for Tourism, Juan Jiménez, accompanied by part of the lifeguard team that provides its rescue services on the municipal beaches.

"The municipal group continues to work for the opening to the sea and for quality through the maintenance of activities and the development and improvement of accessibility, mobility and infrastructures associated with the beaches of this municipality," said David de Vera, who added that "the hoisting and maintenance of the blue flag is very important for this municipal group, Because it is a guarantor of quality and the kindness of this municipality towards those who visit us and their neighbors. We will continue working to maintain the quality of our beaches and especially the services associated with them."

The beach of Los Pozos has been awarded the Blue Flag since 2015, which means that it is hoisted for the ninth consecutive year. In the case of Playa Blanca, it has held the award since 2010 and Puerto Lajas, since 2012.

Continuous work to improve the beaches
For the Councilor for Beaches, Toñi Fernández Aragón, "these blue flags transmit the good conditions we have on the most important beaches of Puerto del Rosario and we are already working on new projects to make them friendlier for our neighbors and visitors. From the Department of Beaches we want to recover 'Sol y Luna' for next year, a festival that marked the beginning of summer and that the whole family could enjoy. "

For his part, the Councilor for Tourism, Juan Jiménez, explained that "this distinction speaks of the quality of our beaches and how the City Council takes care of these environments that are so important to us, especially considering that we are the gateway for the two million tourists who arrive in Fuerteventura, either by plane or through the cruise ship pier. In this sense it is important that they can visit our beaches and that they have benefits according to those that both visitors and residents deserve".

The City Council of Puerto del Rosario continues to work to carry out improvements in the beaches of the municipality, guaranteeing comfort in the accesses, especially to people with reduced mobility, so that they can continue to enjoy these spaces. In addition, services are maintained in which the municipality is a reference such as free sunscreen dispensers at the entrance of the three blue flag beaches in order to raise awareness among beach users of the importance of using sun protection for the skin and avoid the damage that the sun can cause in the users of the beaches.
