I know people due to return to the UK later this week, too. Maybe they will be closing to flights in?

I don't think they are talking about closing the doors and turning off the lights.
SPANISH airports and ports will be closed from midnight tonight.
All travellers will be barred from entering unless they are Spanish, have residency or are citizens of the European Union.
The decision was agreed by the government yesterday in coordination with other European countries.
It comes a week after Spain shut its land borders with Gibraltar, France and Portugal.

...Well, that's a lot of absolutely nothing as far as the islands, really. Is anyone trying to come here from outside the EU right now? It certainly won't stop people coming here from the mainland.

"The island to which the most passengers from the peninsula arrived from Thursday to Sunday was Tenerife with 905 at its two airports; followed by Gran Canaria, with 803; and, at a great distance, Fuerteventura, with 65; and Lanzarote, with 18" Eldiariodefuerteventura.
Pretty much in line with the percentage of new infections. Add inter island travel and the cross-contamination will still occur.
Why not shut all flights, unless for essential workers? And test all arrivals. Easy with their 30.000 new instant testkits.

Yes there were, but up to about 14:30 only 4/5 had actually landed

Does anyone know where it is possible to establish definitively the number of passengers arriving each day?

Yes, I saw that Archer, thank you. I was after something that could be monitored on a daily basis.
