So I was sitting outside my local bar today having a coffee (seems to be the start of a number of my posts Wink ) when a local Majorero lad I know (phone a friend, when my dune buggy breaks down in the middle of nowhere!) drove up in his open top runabout and went into the bar. He had driven here from La Oliva, perhaps 10km, with a bird perched on his shoulder! He said it likes to go for a drive!  Big Grin

Tamara, your life always seems to be so entertaining.  When you are not gardening, you should be writing a book about your adventures on the island.

The local peacocks have 4 babies, 2 went for a walk with Dad in one direction and 2 with Mum in the opposite direction. They're very skittish, couldn't get any closer for a decent picture.

Every week I have 10 free range eggs delivered from a family in the village, they're so fresh and tasty. Last week I had a bonus of 4 quail eggs as well.

Today's delivery made me chuckle, the thought of what the hen went through that laid the egg second from left in back row and the one the laid the egg on the right in the front row, ouch Huh Big Grin

A friend recently found this on a beach here. Believed to be a mummified Moray eel!

Not sure if 'mummified' is quite the right terminology, the fish is dried out and hard and still has a slight fishy smell!

The local chickens out for their daily constitutional:

They walk the same route every day at the same time! And woe betide any cats that are around, they get given short thrift!

I love chickens, and free range eggs, but I do curse them when they start greeting the dawn at 4am. Joined by the donkeys and the dogs, and more dogs, and more dogs .... and the noise the b*****y peacocks make is unbelievable! (Luckily the peacocks only seem to be vocal for a short season.)

I've been placing my trail camera outside for the past couple of weeks. Last time I checked, a week ago, no pictures were taken. Today I've checked, I found a few (not good quality, I know), nothing exciting but at least they confirmed that there is a bit of movement out there; my neighbours' cat, a hedgehog and another cat. I'm pleased in seeing that there are hedgehogs, as I hope that they feed on the snails. I didn't expect to find so many in this kind of climate. Perhaps in the summer the number of them will go down.

Unusual view from my house earlier on today. Very pleasant day, perfect for walking camels.
