antigua taxes municipal

Antigua Municipal taxes
from Radio Sintonia:

The Antigua city council broadens its application criteria in reducing the Real Estate Tax, IBI, to the legal minimum established at 0.40% not only to all residents, but also to all entrepreneurs in the tourism sector, commercial and services established in the Municipality.
"The expansion of the criteria in the reduction of the Real Estate Tax in the municipality of Antigua, responds to the latest data regarding the general tightening of the Covid-19 measures , especially in the restrictions on tourism travel," says the mayor, Matías Peña García.
"With this measure we respond to the demand of the tourism and business sector of the Municipality to maximize the aid that from the Antigua city council we can provide", and adds the mayor, "to this tax reduction we will also add the direct aid that we are studying to provide during this same year in order to alleviate the serious economic situation we are going through ”.
The reduction of the IBI to the tourist sector, commerce and services of the municipality, supposes an approximate reduction in the municipal collection of 300,000 euros.
Residents and entrepreneurs as a whole benefit this year from a reduction in Municipal Taxes and Fees of more than 1,300,000 euros.
The historical reduction approved in the Municipal Taxes and Rates of Antigua is reflected in the new Tax Ordinances that include the suppression of the Industrial, Commercial and Services Garbage Rate, as well as the Occupancy Rate of public land by terraces of hospitality establishments. In addition, Antigua reduces the Vehicle Tax by 30%, and rewards investment in clean energy, the construction of officially protected housing and participation in agricultural cooperatives and community farms.
