We have our "Certificado de residencia" (dated 22/11/2022), which we used successfully to get the discount for ferry travel. We have just booked a flight with Vueling and I was unable to confirm our residency on the website at the time of booking and am supposed to show proof when we check in. Question - will we have a problem with the certificate being over a year old (we fly in
December)? Is there a Vueling counter at the airport where we can show proof of residency sometime between now and when we fly?

Hi Tricky,
This is just "off the top of my head" without looking anything up.
There are TWO certificates you need from the Council (be it La Olivia or any of the other 4), one is yiur Empadron, valid for 2 years post Brexit, and the second is the certificate of travel, valid for 6 months. You only qualify for the travel if you have more than 5 years residency.
The renewal can be done online, but friends in Puerto say it is quicker to do it in person, but you need an appointment.
Hopefully that is correct but I'm not at my computer right now and looking it up on the phone ie such a fiddle.
I'm sure others will confirm my information or correct me.
Happy travels,
Tom.

Are you a resident? i.e Do you live here in Fuerteventura?
Yes

The travel cert is only valid for 6 months and must be valid at date of travel. Get a new one to be safe!
Tom mentioned needing to be resident for 5 years to qualify - this has not been my experience when helping friends. Resident is resident in my experience, 1 day or 10 years, no difference. But, I don't know what the 'official' line is.

Are you in "la oliva"
As Tamara says resident is resident, exception appears to be if you are from outside europe and have only the first or 2nd year residency as a "foreigner"
2 options to get the viaje:- 1 on line as covered elsewhere in this forum.
2 go direct to La Oliva ayuntamiento they will issue a viaje over the counter on presentation of your TIE provided you are on the Padron,( In Corralejo you need an appointment)
We never travel with one more than 6 months old but equally within the last 2 years have not been asked for one.
On your vueling ticket does it say you need one,Our Binter reservation actually says we do not need one because we are on their data base

Friends with 3 and a bit years residency were recently refused a travel certificate at La Oliva and were told they needed "permanent" on the TIE (ie more than 5 years).
However, with La Olivia, it depends on the
Weather/time of day/the officer/mood of the security officer as I visited the day after my friends mentioned above and with 4 years residency I got issued with a travel document!!
Perhaps you need to check the phase of the moon before you book an appointment!
Tom.

really useful advice folks. I am hoping (hoping!) we are ok as I am living here as EU (Irish) so do not have to wait the 5 years for discounted travel. I have just navigated the
Digital Certificate and Clave process.
But can someone guide me to the right website for downloading a travel form/padron etc? (we are Lajares so La Oliva office). I know someone said it had been mentioned before but searching the Forum for Travel Certificate etc has not worked for me...
Thanks
Bill

The last post in this thread has the link for doing your Viaje cert - it works! You don't even need your Clave/Digi cert now with La Oliva to do it.
