Dedicated naturists areas?
#1
Hi all, first off I’m don’t consider myself a naturist in the sense of spending time with other naturists or being part of a club etc. I’m not even sure if there’s a big scene here in Ireland, but I do obviously enjoy being naked Blush , so I’ll be spending a week in Corralejo in June with my family who don’t know about my interest in naturism so I’m hoping to slip away for a few hours on my own and spend some time naked on the beach. Are there any dedicated naturists areas close to Corralejo? I’m interested in dedicated areas because I’m not quite sure if I’m ready to be the only naked guy on a beach, not just yet anyway  Blush  . Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Being naked on the beach is perfectly natural here. Clearly, the beaches near to properties are very rarely used, except by the occasional 'only person naked' types, but move away from built up areas, and it is quite normal.

Get the bus over to El Cotillo and walk towards the lighthouse. Once you have cleared the built up area, almost any beach will do. Look for La Concha Beach, particularly the northern end. Quite rare to see anyone in swimwear there.
Formerly Cotillo Tom, but now living in La Oliva

As far as I am aware, there are no beaches on Fuerteventura that are 'Dedicated' to naturism, its all down to custom and practice. Spanish law is very hazy on the subject. However, As Tom has pointed out, Fuerty is very relaxed in its attitude to beach naturism and you will find beaches all over the island where it is practiced.
El Cotillo is very Robinson Crusoe and the lagoons towards the lighthouse are ideal. I am not sure where the bus stop is, but I imagine that it a fair trudge away in the Fuerty heat. Take water, sunscreen and a hat with you as there is not much in the way of bars and shade down there.
You may wish to consider the dunes national park area south of Coralejo near the two monstrosity hotels that are in the middle of it. I have not tried it, but I believe that sunbeds and parasols are available to rent.
At the risk of a flame war, I would say that the South of the island has more naturist options than the North. With a hire car, you can take your choice between near empty beaches and busy main beaches. Everyone gets along fine mostly

Enjoy

I’m still a bit nervous being naked around clothed people but I guess if there’s a few others around that are also naked it won’t be too bad

As you are based in Corralejo, your closest option is to drive, taxi or bus it to the Riu Oliva Beach hotel just outside Corralejo, walk straight onto the beach there, turn right & walk towards the last block of sunbeds away from both hotels, you’ll be absolutely fine from that point on for a few kilometres, you’ll notice a number of stone circles that offer some privacy & protection from the wind if needed.

The naturist numbers though do tend to drop off in Corralejo during the summer months, I was there in July once & there were literally only a handful about, don’t know about June, October is my personal favourite time to visit.

No specific designated areas, it took me a short while to get my head around that, there will be people in swim suits about but the further away from the hotels you go, the less people you will see generally anyway, vast majority stay close to the two Riu hotels, the beach there is huge, you will have no problem finding a quiet spot, space won’t be a problem.

Locals & regulars won’t be surprised at seeing nudes on the beach, maybe some first timers who didn’t do any research on the destination & just stuck a pin in a map will, don’t let it worry you.

Just to add, I’m Irish too, not a member of any group / organisation either but I do understand that naturism is growing in popularity in Ireland, think the INA is led by a Spanish lady for the last few years, they organise an annual trip to Vera Playa in Spain in May as far as I know along with other social nudity Events, swims, walks etc year round in Ireland, too cold & wet for me, I’ll stick to Summers in Vera Playa & Autumn in Fuerte as much as possible
