Flights to Boston & Toronto withdrawn
#1
I had a message today from Binter to say that the code share they do/did with SATA to Boston & Toronto is withdrawn as from April.

"In response to your request received on the February 18th with reference number 2020/001929.

We regret to inform you that SATA, an airline that makes the flight to Toronto or Boston in code-share with Binter, has announced cancel the routes from April.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused. This situation is outside of Binter. "

I didn't actually want to go, I was just being nosey after seeing them listed as destinations in Binter's inflight mag  Wink .

Do any other airlines go transatlantic from The Canaries?

Google Flights suggests there is not, which is kind of a disappointment.  Cry

Guess they just didn't get the numbers they needed.

Hoe interesting. I stayed a couple of nights at the 4* Hesperia Dorada in Playa Blanca Lanzarote a month ago and was told the hotel is closing down in the near future (March) for a major re-furb. When it re-opens as a 5* it will be targeting the US market, I wonder how they'll get here. As saying that the Boston -Fuerte rumour was doing the rounds a few years ago in Caleta so it must be right.   Wink

Are you sure they are not talking about Boston Lincolnshire  Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Now to be serious, the flights may be via Madrid and then become code share with Iberia to the Islands under the OneWorld Alliance - Iberia American Airlines, BA, Qatar, Cathy Pacific etc.

SATA is an Azores based organisation. You can still get direct flights from there to Boston/Toronto according to their website.
