Interpretation Centre Guisguey
#1
Call to visit the Interpretation Centre of Guisguey. On December 11, the town opened the doors of this new space that shows the public the meaning of the cultural and historical legacy of the town of Majorera and that makes known the most significant aspects related to traditional life.
In the new Interpretation Center, the role and meaning of the historical and cultural heritage of the ancient majoreros is explained through the recreation inside an old house where a didactic summary of the history, flora, fauna and ethnographic heritage of Guisguey is reflected through explanatory panels, whose informative incorporation has had the collaboration of the Department of Tourism directed by Sonia Álamo.
The facilities can be visited at any time where, in addition, visitors can enjoy the traditional ethnographic Bethlehem made by the neighbors of the town with recycled wooden pallets.

Recently, the mayor of the City council of Puerto del Rosario,Juan Jiménez, accompanied by the Councilor for Works and Services, José Juan Herrera, visited the new space located in the town square, surprised by the "magnificent work" that the neighborhood association 'Los Pajeros' has done with this new project that, in addition, joins the existing 'Guisguey Chico', the model that represents some places and various social activities of Guisguey's recent past.

Mayor Juan Jiménez encourages you to visit this interpretation center in Guisguey, "a town that has left us an exciting cultural legacy." For his part, the Councilor for Works, José Juan Herrera, said that "from the Works area we have collaborated with the construction of this space that has been an initiative of the AA. VV Los Pajeros de Guisguey"

With this call to visit the Interpretation Center of Guisguey, the president of the neighborhood association, David de León, explains that this center "is a place where the way of life of our ancestors is recovered and that it was also the way of living of a time marked by difficulties in a marked rural environment."

Whilst out and bout yesterday we took our visitors to see the displays in Guisguey, which I have to say have really been enhanced since we last visited with the new display and information panels which are in Spanish, English and German.

If you expand and scroll in you can read the panels in the photos, sorry the sun was in the wrong position for me to take photos of the panels around the model village display

Not sure how many people visit as it off the tourist track but it is well worth making an effort to visit and learn about the island and history of life in the area.
