New Year's Eve celebration

How do you normally spend New Year's Eve if you are in Fuerteventura? We stayed in Caleta last 2 years but thinking about going somewhere else this year. Any suggestions? Is it worth going to Rosario?

We were on the island for Christmas & New Year last year with a bunch of family. Went out for Christmas dinner in Caleta. It was bizarre, sitting in shorts on a sunny afternoon eating full turkey Christmas dinner outside, lovely & so unusual!! New Years we went out for evening meal (can’t remember where but was in Caleta) then later we went to the evening entertainment on the plaza. Absolutely brilliant. Best New Year I have had in years. All credit to Debbie & the Caleta council. Would love to be there again this year but unfortunately will be in Scotland  Sad Sad

When I lived in Corralejo (near Mercadona) I used to stand out the front of our complex (where The Ugly Duckling/Goldacre are now) and watch the fireworks. They started in Lanzarote and then spread across the hotels in Corralejo right from Tres Islas Hotel - an amazing sight on a clear night! Unfortunately it did upset the dogs.

It is one of the few nights in the year when you need to book a table in advance at most restaurants, even the buffet Chinese places, in Corralejo. I guess it is the same in most towns.

They do have big celebrations in Puerto del Rosario.  The locals consume a grape on each of the 12 chimes at midnight - fo me that's impossible!

There is a big firework display, as well as lots of small ones.

You get a great view of the firework displays in Puerto, El Matorral, Puerto and beyond from the top of Montaña Blanca in Caleta.

I love that ''warm'' feeling over the Christmas in Fuerte. We went to plaza couple of times, it was great, a lot of people everywhere and good atmosphere.

That must be amazing to see fireworks in Lanzarote too.

We are thinking about going to Puerte del Rossario this year. Do you know where exactly is the celebration and is there live entertainment like in Caleta?

We have tried grapes too but it is impossible as you end up giggling with mouth full of grapes.

We have stayed at the Barcelo Beach hotel (Caleta) on a couple of occasions at new year, they have a great new years eve dinner (not cheap but worth it) we then went over to the square opposite the Fuerteventura Barcelo as there was a great concert on,which took us into the new year

The New Year's Eve celebration in Puerto del Rosario is based at the Plaza del Paz, just up from the church:
