New section - Fuerteventura News
#1
I like the new News section Sam. I've put a lot in General Discussions recently because I couldn't find a better home for them.

Personally, I don't think we need a 'Rest of the World' section because without doubt it would get political. If something happens in another country that specifically affects The Canaries then we can still fit it in to existing sections.

I think the COVID thread could be added to the Health section now.

Thanks Tamara, that's what I'm worried about. Don't want this place to end up like the old forum but on the other hand we have moderators capable to keep everything in order, something the old forum lacked badly.

I was thinking the News section until it's over completely and move it to the Health section later on. In both cases in its own subcategory.

The problem as I see it Sam is that bad feeling gets generated when Mods have to step in. It's only by having stopped anything political in it's tracks, right from the start, that this forum is working as well as it is. I don't think everyone is happy with this stance but they accept it for what it is. I really don't see the need for a 'rest of the world' - all I can see is differing opinions generating ill-will. Just my two cents, others will probably have different opinions  Wink

COVID - might as well leave as is until it is right time to move it to Health.

Absolutely could not agree more. I appreciate the hard work our mods do, but I don't think it would be beneficial to the forum to add to that burden to only create bad feeling between members.

Everyone on this site can use alternative venues to discuss world Events. Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, other forums all exist, so nobody is being prevented from expressing themselves by not being able to post their views in this one small private venue. We all have different opinions on different things, and it can be hard to have a civil conversation with somebody about Where to buy pots or how to handle the ITV when you were just yesterday reading their (to you) offensive and hurtful political opinions.

I don't think the atmosphere of collaboration and community would be well served by allowing people to discuss things outside the scope of the forum. Sometimes ignorance is bliss!

my 2 pence worth.
Keep it laser thin as already suggested.
Maintain the COVID page a bit longer after all it has not gone away.
Any chance of fine tuning the index as sometimes I find it a bit difficult to re visit an old item eg TIe application
Keep the sun shining.

Do you have any suggestion how to redo the index? Should we split the Paperwork section or make some subsections in it?

It may be the fact that the minimum search term is 4 characters. That makes it difficult to search for TIE or ITV etc if you don't know the rest of the text Sam. Just a guess as David may well have encountered a different stumbling block.
