Yes, it does count each "thank you" from the users. An helpful answer usually gets more thanks from the readers and the system does recognise that and displays the reputation next to your name. You can also see the "Rate" button on the left side from the "Thank you" button. It does the same thing as thank you button but certain users (Moderators and Legendary) can update their rating to more points. I usually give "Thanks" to every single post (except a few silly ones or off topics) because I appreciate the time everyone is spending here, helping others, sharing their experiences. If I see some really great OP, an helpful reply or a nice review, I tend to update the rating to more points. As an example, you just got two points (instead of one) for starting this thread - great question, managed to start the new thread in the right place too, well deserved a couple of points! This rating system is here for a very important reason. Every single person can give a negative rating too. This action will take a point from the rating of the poster. It sort of brings the democracy (the voice of the people) into the forum. So the forum won't be depending on how the admin/moderator feels about the post/user, the majority of votes will decide. I got this idea thanks to the Darkside. When I visited the forum the first time I saw five or six "Hero members" having a slagging match like nasty kids in the school yard. This whole forum was build with the rating system (along with other ideas) in the mind all the time. We wanted to give users the power to say NO to anything they don't like. Not just sit behind their screens, wishing the admin would finally wake up.
