As last year, many bars and restaurants will be taking part in the Ruta de las Tapas in Betancuria, Antigua, Caleta de Fuste and Costa de Antigua from 7-16 February 2019. Other municipalities will be taking part over the next few weeks. See the attached poster:

If its the same as last year, you can pick up a booklet from any of the participating bars/cafés/restaurants or tourist info places. The booklets list all the places that are participating and you take it with you and get the booklet stamped or signed at each place you buy and sample the Tapas. You can then add your scores. If you complete entries for a minimum number of venues you can submit your booklet for inclusion in the voting for the best of them.
Of course you can buy and eat what and wherever you like without filling in the booklet. We only did a couple of places last year, enjoyed them so much we kept going back to the same places for more!

Well we started our Ruta De Las Tapas yesterday afternoon visiting 4 of the 32 establishments listed in the Antigua area. What a great value for Money experience, 2,50€ for a nice individual cold or hot Tapas and a drink, beer, wine or water, we partook of both the cold and hot in all 4 establishments we visited.
It is a great way to explore and try different restaurants that you may not have been to before as we found, we will certainly be returning for full meals in the future.
Some photos to whet your appetite -
It runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week and next so we will hopefully have visited 16 to 20 of the participating establishments.

Those are our locals John. Nice places to be able to walk to & have a bite & a drink
If anyone is doing the Antigua section at present do make sure you go to Smile on the seafront (between Aamares and Beach Cafe). We went there yesterday evening and, IMHO, their hot Tapa has to be the one to beat (and we've been to 10 so far).
