Have you looked at travelling via Madrid rather than direct to Fuerte? That's what we did when Excel went down some years ago and got reasonably priced flights.

We did that also only from Dublin when RA pulled out of the island a number of years ago over the passenger rebate scheme.

Many thanks all for the welcomes - Hi Ron!    Tamara, I'm out in the far east, near Gt Yarmouth.  Norwich airport (nearest) only has flights to holiday airports in Spain.  The thought of 3 to 4 hours travelling to a busier UK airport, then having 2 flights to catch, is not appealing.  I've looked at flights from Norwich to other UK cities to get a connecting flight, but none seem to coincide.  Good to know that Jet2 have added more capacity - that might improve the prospects.  More googling called for!
