Anyone dealt with the problem of UK driving with your Spanish licence for over 70s? There's plenty of info that you can drive for up to a year on a Spanish licence, but then there's the caveat that it will expire when you turn 70. Beyond that, there's no information on the DVLA section of the gov.uk website. Has anyone found any answers for this?

Morning Rich
I believe it will be the same as the UK rules, my British licence expired every two years and you just simply renewed it, although I have no documentary evidence that it will be the same, I just feel it is to small an issue to become a problem.

I exchanged my UK licence for the Spanish licence last year at 69 years of age. The Spanish gave me a 4 year licence. Expires
September 2024, when I will be 73 and a bit.
Tom.

The question is Tom, have you checked on it,s validity in The UK?

There is a paragraph in here that says you can drive in UK on Spanish licence, for short visits, or exchange it for a UK licence.

Thanks Tamara, that clarifies that point, I really could not see it as an issue.

Thanks all for the replies. I've now driven extensively in the UK, relying on the validity of my Spanish licence, and the fact that it's accepted for temporary visits up to 1 year. Never been stopped and had to show it, but some UK insurers accept it. (Others require a UK licence only).
