Fuerteventura Television will not broadcast the fights this weekend due to the lack of agreement with the Federation
The production of Onda Fuerteventura has not managed to get the Benito en La Brega program to start the season
In a statement received in this newsroom and related to the programming of Fuerteventura Television, the producer of the recordings of the Canarian wrestling Onda Fuerteventura, states that "it decides to stop broadcasting the wrestling days of this weekend, coinciding with the beginning of the season and the Cabildo de Fuerteventura League – OPC – SUMYTRANS due to the lack of agreement on the conditions demanded by the Fuerteventura Wrestling Federation".
Since 2018 the program "Benito en la Brega" has broken a unique television record in the world of wrestling, with 170 fights broadcast annually through Onda Fuerteventura and Fuerteventura Television, a record in self-produced broadcasts, weekly summaries and special broadcasts, never seen before, which have kept our vernacular sport more alive than ever and have offered an essential service to all fans. Audiences that have increased notoriously since the launch of this television format, highly anticipated by all fans, but not its income.
Seven seasons with an enormous technical and human deployment, the effort made by Onda Fuerteventura, especially by Benito Morales and the technical team, have not been enough for the Fuerteventura Wrestling Federation that maintains a position against the live broadcast of all the days of wrestling but demands an exorbitant and unfair economic compensation that directly affects the continuity of this activity.
Until now, Onda Fuerteventura has assumed the costs of this activity, something that the managers of this media outlet are not willing to continue to maintain if there is not a great agreement, which makes the continuity of the project viable, not to obtain profits but to avoid further losses.
The statement states that "Onda Fuerteventura has promoted numerous meetings with all those involved without this effort having served to improve communication. The solution has only one way, the union of all those interested in Canarian wrestling with a concise and transparent roadmap, where the contribution of Onda Fuerteventura to the Federation is fair and sustainable, something that this media has never refused".
"Finally, Onda Fuerteventura has the firm certainty that the world of Canarian wrestling should not be in the discussion of the media yes, media no, but that it should be shown and promoted to the world, taking care of the images with the greatest respect for the clubs and the fans. If this were not the case, this program would never have existed only rewarded by the constant gratitude that fans send us from all corners of the Canary Islands and from anywhere in the world," they explain.
"We are sorry for the inconvenience and sadness that this news will generate for all our listeners and the fans," the note ends.
