I was Zooming last night with friends from the Isle of Man and Ireland. It works really well with no drop outs or loss of quality. If you want to have a chat with friends and family, Zoom can be found
here. (Live link).
The suggestion is that a conference call can be made free of charge for 40 minutes, that does not appear to be the case as we were on for two and a half hours.

Hi Milestone,
Yeah, I have used it as well. Actually had a four way with myself, my Dad in Ireland, a son in Vietnam & a son in Edinburgh. Great bit of kit, works well with no dropouts etc. The only worrying thing (don’t know if you have seen this) is the apparent openness of Zoom to hacking. The security is supposed to be pretty much non existent, so I have read anyway ☹️
My Dad, who is a techno/computer geek actually said that he likely will not use again 🤔🤔

Appreciated. There is that threat no matter what we do on the internet. I have Kaspersky internet security as well as any add ons that they provide so, reluctantly, I'm prepared to take the risk. I think a powerful security system is a must though.

During the current situation, Zoom have kindly dropped the 40 minute restriction. Your only restriction is now the capacity at Zoom (which is humongous).
As for security, set up your meetings with a password and only share the password with the people you want to chat to.
There is a limited vulnerability but as long as your not discussing state secrets or confidential business proposals, the risk is pretty minimal.
Just had a Zoom meeting with 33 members and frankly if anyone wanted to listen in, they would be quite bored very quickly in that the chat was all personal but in no way confidential.
Enjoy!
Tom.
