I have recently gained access to the Spanish health care system & it was easier than expected. 
(I am under pension age, full time resident but not working here).
Firstly a trip to Central de la Salud and a form to fill in for the Convenio especial, which was then submitted complete with copies of my passport, residencia, empadron and bank details (It will cost 60 euros per month until I'm of retirement age).

Does anyone know how I go about getting this certificate? It is needed by HMRC to avoid double taxation.

Does anyone have any up to date information on this? has anyone applied for and received it recently?

I have applied for Convenio Especial as i have now been resident for a year and meet all the requirements. I took all my documents to Centro de Salud in Puerto del Rosario and was given a date-stamped photocopy of Anexo 1, my signed application declaration. I expected to receive some further confirmation from Servicio Canario de la Salud to set up the monthly direct debit payment with my bank but after 5 weeks of waiting, nothing has arrived. Is this the correct procedure or should i have go

Can anyone please advise if the CE would cover cancer treatment or is this classed as prescribed medicine and you would have to pay for it?
