Adsl to fibre
Considering the option of whether to change to fibre to get a more stable connection.

First anyone got experience of the cost difference between adsl & fibre?

Secondly how long does the process take to switch on the island.is it days/weeks/........?

Thirdly is movistar the best bet to go with or anybody has experience of Europa (read bad reviews online for Europa)?

If you have changed to fibre is it worth it are the speeds and bandwidth as good as you were expecting without break

Caleta Internet Fibre
FIBRE IS HERE  Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Fuerte Wifi have just installed Fibre internet to our villa in the last 2 hours and the 3 tests I have done during that time have each given me 29Mb + download and 10Mb + upload.

50Mb is available at an extra cost if you want it.

La Estancia was wired with fibre when it was built and I am told that the new Pueblo Majorero Development at Fuerteventura Golf Club will also be wired for fibre

El Cotillo gets fibre optic broadband
Hooray!!!  Today I witnessed about 6 telefonica employees laying fibre optic cable from the telephone exchange (next to Riders Surf Shop) and down the main street (Avd. Los Lagos).

When I enquired at the Movistar Shop in Corralejo last year, the guy laughed at me and said, fibre in Cotillo: not in my lifetime!!!

Hope the fibre cable gets to end end of the street, as I'm in the last but one building on the right!!

Connectivity in Parque Holandes
Hi,

Our original plans changed and we are now purchasing a villa in the sleepy hollow that is Parque Holandes.
Does anyone know what the options are for Internet connectivity?
I don't suppose fibre has made it that far but what about ADSL, does anyone have this in Parque Holandes and what kind of speeds/reliability are you getting?

Any recommendations on a supplier?

Thanks in advance.

Fibre Broadband in El Cotillo
Anyone actually managed to get Fibre installed in El Cotillo?

Here is my experience:

Got a phone call from a Movistar Agent in early August, did I want to upgrade from ADSL to Fibre (Fusion #0).  Yes, I said, but not before the end of the month as I'm on holiday.

Mid-August: We are ready to install tomorrow. No thanks, I'm not in Cotillo until the end of the month.

Text: install 25th August between 9 and 12.

25th August: About 10 am, phone call from engineer, not attending

Fibre Optic - La Oliva municipality
I nearly added this to Tom's post re El Cotillo but I thought it deserved it's own thread. Note the councillor's statement re 100% coverage next year!  Thumbs Up Fingers Crossed
I'm enlisting the help of my Spanish neighbour to write to the councillor to try to make sure that those of us that have no option currently but to use Movistar's 3G service are included. Wish us luck!

Just got fibre broadband! [Playa Blanca]
So far I haven't been willing to take out a lengthy (I assumed) expensive monthly contract for what I thought would be mediocre internet, especially when we don't live here permanently. So we've been relying on mobile data using a 4G router for our home internet needs. Those needs recently changed dramatically though with two kids home schooling and two people working full-time with lots of online meetings. Tethering on three different sim cards to try ensure sufficient bandwidth becomes qu

Fibre and phones out in El Cotillo
Fibre disappeared around 2pm today, along with phone lines (mobiles still working).

Movistar say it is a major outtage and could take time to fix.
