Following stormy conditions across parts of mainland Spain on Tuesday, a powerful anticyclone is moving in, bringing with it a sharp and sustained rise in temperatures.
According to Rubén del Campo, spokesperson for the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), the combination of this high-pressure system and a mass of very warm air from lower latitudes will create “a warm episode that will be the first heatwave of this summer.”
