People with these EHIC cards will be aware that they are issued by Newcastle, not Spain. The current ones are valid until the end of the year. If you require one for future use in other EU countries (not Spain) they are now available to order online at Gov.uk. Very simple online process:

Hello! We have just exchanged contracts on a villa here. We will be in Lajares 😊 Very exciting! We are moving from UK and will need to apply for residency. My husband Bill has EU passport which means we do not need NLV. We know we need private healthcare and are currently looking at Sanitas.
