What's really happening re the hotel closures in Costa Calma?
There are news reports that the Jandia mayor, Rafael Perdomo, has ordered the closure of the SBH Monica Beach, SBH Taro Beach and SBH Costa Calma Beach hotels in Costa Calma.  Allegedly, the hotels don't have the correct licences to operate, even though they've been open for decades.  Anyone know what's really happening?

Fuerteventura Princess becomes a Thomas Cook branded hotel
Thomas Cook has announced an extension of its own-brand hotel programme, including news that the Fuerteventura Princess will become a SunConnect hotel.  SunConnect is Thomas Cook's family hotel branding.  This will bring Thomas Cook's portfolio to around 200 hotels worldwide.

VIK Suite Hotel Risco del Gato
This smallish (50 rooms) hotel in Costa Calma is one of the most intriguing places we've stayed on the island.  All the rooms are detached bungalows, each with a big air-conditioned bedroom with 2 double beds and a TV, a separate sitting room with another TV and a fridge, a bathroom with a circular jacuzzi bath, a separate shower and a separate toilet with bidet.  But the best bit is that each room has a totally private courtyard with 2 sun loungers, so you can sunbathe naked. The courtyard i

Corralejo hotel to be re-branded
The Hesperia Bristol Playa hotel in Corralejo is to be re-branded next year as the "Amigo Fuerteventura Resort".  This follows the appointment of American company AMResorts to handle the branding and sales of the hotel.  The owners of the hotel, Grupo Inversor Hesperia, will inject millions of euros to upgrade the hotel, which is expected to open under the new brand in May 2019.

AMResorts is a resort brand management company with 55 resorts and 21,000 rooms in its current portfolio, plus 10

Cotillo Beach Hotel - New owners
The Cotillo Beach Hotel has new owners. Previously privately owned, it has now been purchased by Coral Hotels in what I think is their first hotel outside Tenerife.

No obvious signs of new ownership as yet, but likely to fall into the same method of operation as other hotels in the group in the future.

Barcelo hotel
I was over a few weeks ago and it was closed and being refurbised.  Does anyone know when it will be open again?   My parents are looking to go in February/March for two weeks.   TUI show it as available,  but the Barcelo website says it isn't?
