Just looking to budget for the coming year, and have been quoted a huge increase for the non-resident tax this year. It works out to be somewhere in the region of 60% more than last year. That seems very extreme for a one-year jump. I hasn't heard anything about a huge hike, though perhaps I have not been looking in the right places. 

Anyone else having this issue? Is there a reason for it? I'd love any insights anyone has to offer!

Am I right in thinking that a car over 25 years old is road tax exempt but that you have to apply for it to be 'recognised'?
Anyone have any experience of this, what form is required, is it a hassle, is it worth the hassle?

I’m hoping I can learn from someone’s experience here...! I’m having a tussle with Agencia Tributaria over income tax paid in the UK on a private pension which is paid in the UK. Currently questioning 2019, but I can see the same coming for 2020 and beyond. I’ve accurately reported the tax paid in the UK, and provided proof, and under the double-taxation agreement this is deducted from the larger tax bill due here, fair enough. AT do not, however, seem to like this.

Could anyone recommend, from experience, a reliable asesor/gestor covering the Caleta area who offers this service, please? I used to do all my own personal and business back in the UK, and probably should pull my finger out and do it myself here, but the Spanish systems......!😳 Thanks for any help.

Most will probably already be well-aware, but just a note of caution for anyone looking at the ‘double taxation’ element in completing their Renta, or tax return. The Agencia Tributaria are clamping down very, very firmly on anything they see as an infraction of the double taxation arrangement between Spain and the UK!

It’s just occurred to me that I’ve not yet paid my car tax this year. I normally call into the Ayuntamiento office in Caleta de Fuste, but have not heard any ‘chatter’ about it being collected yet - we normally get the two months to pay at the reduced rate, which I may have missed?

How much is car road tax this year?  I've had an amount of E32.72 debited from my bank account, but a few months ago I sold my car and applied on the bank website not to make payment for car tax.  BUT THEY HAVE .. Cannot find on bank web site any confirmation that this amount is for car tax but it has been paid to the town hall.

Another payment made to town hall today for E28.80 which must be for Basura.  How do I get refunded by Town Hall for the car tax?

When golfing yesterday we were discussing that our membership monthly direct debit had increased by 4€ and when I checked by bank account last night I noticed that my Secturitas DD had also gone up.

One of my golfing mates thinks this may be to do with a levy / tax to help with the La Palma recovery, I may have missed a post or announcement so has anyone else seen or heard of this?
