Residency: The new system, TIE
The long awaited revision to the (so called) residency system is almost here. The following is taken from the Brits in Spain Facebook page.

As you will be aware from our previous posts and the Ambassador’s recent video, the Spanish government is introducing a new residency document for those UK nationals who are protected by the Withdrawal Agreement – the Tarjeta de identidad de extranjero or TIE. We understand that this will be introduced shortly and instructions are being issued to lo

Appointments for the new TIE
Anyone managed to get an appointment in Puerto for the new TIE?

I have been trying for days and I can get an appointment in Lanzarote or Gran Canary, but nothing ever appears for Fuerteventura!

I read in a newspaper a report that some people/companies were block booking appointments and then reselling them but I've not seen any being sold.

Anyone actually managed to book yet??

Tom.

TIE card Travel discount
Good morning and a happy new year to you all.

We changed our green Residencia cards last year for the new TIE cards, we used to travel with the old cards and get the discount can you travel with the new TIE cards and get the discount?.

We was told no because on the new cards it says  TEMPORAL.

We used the new TIE card last year on the ferry and got the discount?.

Any advice please.

Many thanks Bob.

The TIE is recognised as proof of your residency, as it is biometric. The Green Card is not biometric. The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) requires you to have a visa. The TIE give you exemption from the need for this ETIAS visa. The Green Card DOES N

If you haven’t got one, get the TIE now.
If you haven’t got one, get the TIE now to avoid problems as a resident of Spain.

The British Embassy is urging all British people who live in Spain, including the Canary Islands, and are still in possession of a Green Residency Certificate or card to apply for the TIE, or “Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero,” if they haven’t done so already.

The biometric TIE, which came into force in 2021, proves that the holder is a Withdrawal Agreement beneficiary with the right to reside and w
