The new catamaran is 30 meters long and 9 meters wide and was built at the Godán shipyard in Asturias, will be used to transport people and goods, but not vehicles. It has a capacity of 340 people.

The Don Juan will have six daily departures from Monday to Saturday from Playa Blanca (9:30, 11:15, 12:30, 14:30, 16:30 and 18:30) and three more on Sundays (10:30, 12:30, and 16:30). The ship.El Graciosero, will cover the same line with departures from Monday to Saturday at 8:00 and 11:15; and Princess Ico on Sundays at 9:30 am.

The new catamaran went into service today, a few days early but on the old timetabled 10.30 am service to Lanza and the 16.30 return.  Docking back in Fuerte was an interesting exercise as the Armas ferry had problems involving divers in the water, ropes and broken pieces of metal. Hat's off to the Lineas Romero skipper who eventually managed to dock in a berth only a little larger than the length of the new vessel!

Thanks for the report, Grampiangranny. Never realised how large the new catamaran actually will be.
