Just for info, just up from 5 Oceans, Management found a Fruit & Veg shop, rather like a mini Frani Y Chem, not as cheap, but infinitely better quality, it now appears we shall be going to Rosario every Saturday. Moral of this tale? if you go to 5 Oceans park below it so you will have no reason to be anywhere near it.
That fruit and veg shop has been started up by an ex taxi driver from Tindaya - nice guy, and his wife was on the till last time I went in. I like family businesses rather than 'chains'. They had the best apricots I've had in years a few months ago and gave me freebie samples of some fruits I wasn't familiar with.
On the bacon front - we buy ours in Padilla in Corralejo, frozen, or in the Euro (Brit?) shop. If you know someone who gets stuff from Tierneys (deliveries for various shops/food outlets etc) you could ask them to get you a large pack of bacon, sausages, black pudding, sausage rolls, scones, cod …………… the list goes on and on.

A message for Father Ted and all other bacon lovers.
This morning was in 'Herbania', the small frozen food shop
opposite Ikea. They sell 2kg packs of 'Bacon Ingles' at 4.79 euros a kilo.
The bacon is 'back bacon' but looks like it is the unsmoked variety.
Either way it's the nearest to decent UK bacon I've seen on the island.
Located in the upright freezers on the right along with the sausages etc.
Bon appetit.

As a seafood lover, I was very happy with the selection of semi-fresh produce in various supermarkets.
Recently we were driving past 5 Oceans and my wife insisted we go in. I was slightly hesitant as I thought it was just like Iceland, but I entered and saw a whole new world.
5 Oceans sell frozen food items with their largest category being Sea Food & Fish. They also sell various poultry, meats, and vegetables/fruit.
A couple of things of keen interest were Dutch Ducks, and Turkeys of an origin I have since forgotten.
We left the store having bought some New Zealand Green Mussels (680g @ €7.60/kg) a Dungeness Crab (640g @ €8.95/kg) and a mix of wild mushrooms (580g @ €4.95/kg).
In my opinion, these are spectacular prices for the quality of what was provided.
I now have a long list of things to buy, but first I need a bigger freezer!
If you are looking for some food items that you haven't otherwise seen around, head over there and see what they have.
P.S This is a local Canarian Company with 2 stores on Fuerte, buying from local businesses helps boost the local economy.
This has been mentioned previously, there is also a very good fruit and Veg shop next store, a smaller than Fran Y Chem, but infinitely better quality.

Ooops, I did do a quick search but nothing showed up. I guess my fat fingers need a bigger keyboard.

I guess this post could be removed
Not necessary, a gentle reminder to one and all is never amiss.
Thx McAdam. As a non fish person it's good to get a different opinion.
I bought a nice piece of strip loin beef there a couple of days ago. About 10E for just over 3lb.
And bags of prawns in batter for a friend, 4.70E.
I'll merge the threads when I'm on my laptop or another mod can if they get there before me 🤣
