islands canary mini weekend heatwave hit

A MINI-HEATWAVE WILL HIT THE CANARY ISLANDS THIS WEEKEND
#1
Temperatures are set to rise this weekend in the Canary Islands, as the archipelago gets ready for a mini-heatwave with temperatures up to 32 degrees Celsius in the south of the islands.

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has announced that the south of Spain is set to have its first heatwave of the year with temperatures between 36°C and 38°C in the Guadalquivir region, which will face "full summer temperatures," during the day and at night.

This Weather front will bring higher temperatures to the Canary Islands, but not to the same extreme. AEMET say that we will experience ‘Tropical Nights’ this weekend, when temperatures don’t drop below 20 degrees Celsius, particularly in the centre and southern regions of the islands.

AEMET stresses the importance of following Ministry of Health guidelines as extreme heat can seriously impact people’s health, especially young children, the elderly, and those with existing illnesses.

They particularly advise staying inside during the hottest hours of the day and avoiding physical exercise, keeping hydrated by drinking plenty of water, staying covered up, and wearing a hat and sunglasses if going outside.
