Garden Hotel Group expands into the Canary Islands
#1
A Mallorca-based family hotel chain, Garden Hotel Group, has officially entered the Canary Islands market with the acquisition of its first property in the archipelago, the former Labranda Bahía de Lobos hotel, located in Corralejo, Fuerteventura.

Originally opened in 1990, the 4-star hotel is owned by Lobos Bahía Club S.A. (Grupo Lobos), which has progressively repositioned the property over the years, making it one of Fuerteventura's flagship hotels.

The 288-room resort will now be managed by Garden Hotel Group under a white-label agreement. Plans are already underway for a full renovation valued at €4.5 million, which will eventually see the property fully integrated into the Garden Hotels & Resorts brand.

This represents a key move in the company’s ambitious national and international expansion strategy, now being spearheaded by the second and third generations of the founding family.

“Fuerteventura perfectly aligns with our vision and current portfolio: high-quality tourism offerings, outstanding natural surroundings, and a strong local identity that we are committed to preserving,” said Gabriel Llobera, CEO of Garden Hotel Group. “We are arriving to add value in partnership with a respected local operator, and we deeply appreciate their trust in our project. Our goal is to integrate into the community and build a long-term relationship.”

Javier López, President and CEO of Grupo Lobos, added: “We are starting this new chapter with great enthusiasm and a long-term outlook, alongside Garden Hotel Group, a well-established family business that shares our values and management philosophy. This collaboration is driven by a clear intention to transform the property into a reference hotel in Fuerteventura under the Garden Hotels & Resorts brand, capitalising on its reputation and strong positioning in key European source markets.”
