Aberdeen Steak House - Caleta
#1
You see a lot of negative and disparaging reports about this place, so in the interest of fairness, my wife and I decided to see for ourselves. We only went for a 'cheapish' meal so I had the mixed grill at €6.95 and my wife ordered the Canarian style chicken. Now I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the pork chop was the best I've ever tasted - so tender. My wife wasn't so happy with her choice as she didn't like the sauce, which was just a bbq style one. That being said there was nothing wrong with the dish.
We found the service to be OK and the staff friendly enough, not rude as has been mentioned elsewhere. Judging by the number of returning customers and the fact it is normally quite busy, I would say that either the complainers are very picky or did we go on a good night.

On this one I disagree with TF, we have been there three times over the years and while the service is friendly and reasonably good the food is of a poor standard, IMHO it is the quality of the product they use, they are aiming for a cheaply priced menu and have achieved it but as always at the expense of the quality.

No problem JR, call it as you see it. We were happy with our meal and I will go back for another mixed grill (only just managed to finish it). We'll see if it is as good as the first time.

We have been there a few times over the years & taken visitors in there. Can’t say I have ever had any complaints about it but then there are so many choices in Caleta it tends to be quite a while until you go back to a place again. The only ones I would not be keen to go back to are the Indian on the corner opposite the Aberdeen. Very slow & not particularly nice or friendly service & the newish Tapas place down the end of the street from the Aberdeen, overpriced & nothing to merit it IMO. We like the  “Winnit “ for breakfast or early lunch the woman there is very friendly

Which Indian? The one down by the Dino, or the one back by the sails roundabout?

Whilst I remember some poor reviews of this place.  The prices  at Aberdeen Steak house have also always put me off,  because they are so cheap.
I assume because its so cheap they can only be using the worst of everything.

Have only been once but I had (as part of the mixed grill) the best pork chop I have ever tasted.
