After The Rain
#41
Nordysur bike race they disqualified any rider who dropped litter, or water bottles at the refreshment stops. Fixed the problem of litter everywhere after the race. Maybe the organisers should have had a similar penalty if they want to run this event again.

The organiser must take some responsibility for cleanup.

After the big beach concert at Gran Tarajal the sand and promenade were left spotless. (Unlike Glastonbury.)

From Wikipedia:
Anacyclus pyrethrum (pellitory, Spanish chamomile, or Mount Atlas daisy)

and this barranco between La Oliva and Tindaya still has a pool of water:

The recent car rally came past here (this was a viewing point) and when I parked up to take some pics today I was disgusted at the amount of rubbish left behind: broken bottles, cans and plastic packaging in abundance. I often find the odd bit of rubbish up here, unfortunately, but I've never seen anything like this before. I filled one carrier bag and took away but I'll go back tomorrow with gloves and stronger bags to clear as much broken glass as possible.

In the middle pic you've got some sort of Orache (halberd leaved maybe) and the pink flowered one nearly covering it looks like some sort of Trefoil maybe.

Thanks Waggy.

Back to Tindaya today:

[Image: zdoCFOE.jpg] anyone (Waggy perhaps) know what this is? The strands grow rapidly and engulf the supporting plants creating a thick web.

Corralejo dunes today - continued

I had hoped to spot a dune crocus (the proper name escapes me) and was delighted to see hundreds of them - far more than I've ever seen  before.

[Image: Li6q3H9.jpg] [Image: IEF35T1.jpg] [Image: uwDwqlQ.jpg]

to my dismay when I got home and uploaded the pics I realised I had left the rusty tin where I found it.
If you go walking through the dunes please be very careful where you step, these crocus (and numerous other tiny plants) are almost invisible unless you are specifically looking for them.

They look lovely. Except for the rusty tin, it would looks much better in a recycling bin.

The tin can's fine - almost folksy after all the plastic - but really it gives some scale to the plant life. Great shots, Tamara. For the hairy lichen just surf lichens fuerteventura, and take your pick. Sorry about the messy post.

I'd forgotten the bug Archer - good spot. Any idea what it is?

Ducks - I have a feeling that you might get roach jokes for a while to come Wink
