Looks like I am indeed!

I simply posted what I saw.
Although its the same on Amazon.de as well.

For some things, Amazon.XX is cheaper, for many things on Amazon they don't deliver to the Canarias, for some orders you will get stung for tax and duties, for others it will pass through fine.

Find what you're comfortable with, and what you accept the risks of (delays, cancellations).
If you can afford to buy it locally for a few more quid, putting the Money into the local economy helps us all.

The original question was about buying computer components, Amazon is always an option for everything, and PC Comp... is a viable alternative for when amazon cant fulfil your desires Big Grin

That particular item from Amazon.de is €58+P&P So 64 in total. The only time that I've ever been asked for import duty deposit is when ordering from Amazon.com

One thing that is essential to ensure delivery is to include your NIE in the delivery address.

I have noticed that if you plumb for expedited delivery Amazon.co.uk DO add an import duty deposit. However I never take that option and USUALLY don't have to pay anything - it seems to be certain couriers.

In general the memory should be fine in any modern motherboard. But I would suggest getting a new power supply to go into the new case. Built-in ones can often be missing certain cables or have odd connectors on them.

Seems like your wife needs a lot of storage. Is she doing photo/video work?
An alternative could be to buy a NAS (Network Storage) device that will mean you can fill it with HDDs and just access over the network. It would save having to get bigger cases and can offer expandability down the line. I would recommend looking at the Synology line of NAS's for minimal complications but great future-proofing.

Depending on what work she does, you could go for an AMD based processor/motherboard to get more bang for your buck.

I do a lot of 4k Video Work and run an AMD 3700x, RTX 2070 super with a super-fast 2TB NVMe - in a case the size of an A4 paper (for travel).
But all my long term storage is off-site on my NAS in a Datacentre in Germany. I have good internet speeds here so if I ever need anything it's quick to download again.
Yes, the lack of cabling and space in the ACER is frustrating. We had to disconnect the DVD in order to be able to connect the SSD - no spare cabling. Yes, I will have to check the power supply - it has greater capacity 500w as opposed to 350w on the ACER, but the cabling may not be much better. We tried the NAS route before and couldn't get it to work/understand it so sold it (that was a Synology)

Also, building a new machine like this, presumably we would need to buy a new copy of windows?

you will need a new windows licence key. but they can be legitimately bought online for around €15.
Let me know when you need it and I'll find the link to where I usually buy

Do you use the premium service from PC Componentes? Didn't know if it applied to the Canaries?

No, I do not use the premium service. When I looked at it, it did not seem to affect the orders to the Canaries at all.

Or install Linux OS. Open source, free, fast, stable, reliable... Google, Facebook, Twitter, McDonald's, Amazon, NASA, Wikipedia, PizzaHut, etc, all running Linux. Don't forget Android or Chrome OS.

Best few distros for beginners to check out: Ubuntu, Linux Mint or Elementary OS.

Linux would be my choice, but only go for it if you know all apps you use have got good Linux versions.

Also, Chrome OS is beautiful, simple, fast and easy to use. You can install it on almost any machine in the world using Neverware https://www.neverware.com/freedownload#intro-text
I have this installed on a few old laptops and it works flawlessly. My wife really loves it since its essentially a browser and brought her old ultrabook back to life.

Yes, I found that out when I was placing the order - only Mainland and Balearics.
I can't see my wife wanting to ditch Windows, much as she hates it.

Got my stuff from PC Components OK, despite unhelpful delivery driver. Thanks for the help.
Is there a worldwide shortage of hard drives?
When I bought a new h/d for my wife from Amazon.co.uk it was less than £140. I ordered a 2nd one a few days later (subsequently cancelled) and it went up to to over £150. Looked again yesterday and it has gone up to £180, nearly €236 on PC Components.
