We've recently gone from a septic tank to mains drainage. Since this happened we are getting a slight sewerage smell in the bathroom and the shower waste 'gurgles' (for want of a better word). The waste connection goes straight to the mains so there is now a long uninterrupted run and I'm guessing to 'gurgle' is the water rushing down the pipe. I'm also guessing this rushing is breaking the 'seal' on the trap.
Is there any way that this can be remedied easily? If we installed an inspection chamber directly outside the bathroom, would this (breaking the run as it were) solve the problem? Any suggestions appreciated.

You need and air intake valve. The gurgling is caused by there being no air. To do it you fit a T joint to the soil pipe and then a section of pipe this pipe should be higher than the highest pipe (in case of a blockage). The valve lets air in but not smells out. To try and explain it, its a bit like pouring a full bottle of liquid it will glug until there is enough room for air to get into the bottle then it runs smooth, Its an easy fix. Good luck.

Do you have access to both ends of the drain? If so, how far?

I bought a really powerful drain cleaner from the Ferreteria Hondura at the Montecastillo Center. I can't remember the name but it was in a silver/grey plastic bottle with and English sounding name.

There is a company here similar to DynaRod, seen their van but can't remember name, sorry. Probably if you asked in ferreteria Hondura they would be able to give you a contact.
