19-year-old arrested for drug trafficking while embarking to Fuerteventura.
A 19-year-old man was arrested during a search when he embarked on foot on the Gran Canaria Morro Jable route in Puerto de La Luz, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The young man was intervened 140 ecstasy pills and 10.45 grams of cocaine during the search carried out by the Civil Guard prior to shipment.
The Civil Guard in the exercise of its specific functions of its mission, on February 22, 2023, carrying out a verification and recognition of people, vehicles and luggage, in a boarding terminal intended for inter-island maritime transport observed how a male, in the presence of the agents, showed a high state of nervousness and an attitude that was visibly and objectively suspicious, reason why they proceeded to identify him.
Also, the individual intended to embark on foot on a ferry of one of the shipping companies operating in this port bound for the island of Fuerteventura, therefore, the Civil Guards made a superficial recognition of his belongings, at which time he voluntarily delivered the two wrappers he had hidden in his clothing, containing a considerable amount of ecstasy pills and cocaine.
Narcotest test
Finally, the corresponding inspection of the content and the narcotest test of the packages found is carried out, moving the agents to the official offices of the Fiscal and Border Section of the port, in order to carry out a count, weighing and determination of the type of substance through the application of a drug detection spray, obtaining in the pills a positive result in amphetamine – a common component of ecstasy – and about 10.45 grams of alleged cocaine.
It should be noted that with this type of control, the Civil Guard prevents the favoring of drug trafficking between the different islands.
The detainee together with the proceedings instructed for this purpose, was at the disposal of the Acting Court of Guard of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, meaning that the intervened substance will be sent to the Functional Area of Health of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, to proceed to weigh, analysis and study of it.
