AstroPhotographs exhibition in Puerto de Rosario

The Astronomical Association of Fuerteventura shares its astrophotographs in the House of Culture.

With the illusion of showing the world the spectacular skies that can be observed from the island majorera, the Astronomical Association of Fuerteventura (A.A.F) has compiled a series of snapshots taken of the night sky in recent years from different points of the island majorera, and that includes galaxies, nebulae and stars, so that citizens can also enjoy the wonderful 'Skies of Fuerteventura' from the House of Culture of Puerto of the Rosary through the exhibition they have prepared.

 

This astrophotography exhibition will beinaugurated next Wednesday, December 14, at 12.30 pm at the Casa de la Culturaof the capital of Majorera and, from that same day, and until January 31, 2023, interested citizens will be able to enjoy the spectacular skies that, from the island, can be observed, promoting the knowledge they have about them.

This exhibition shows astrophotography, through images taken of galaxies, clusters, nebulae, planetary, as well as the wind effect, and space will also be dedicated to night photography through the sample of aurora borealis, meteor shower, the Milky Way and also different sunsets. Likewise, during the exhibition, a documentary on the History of the Universe and the History of the Astronomical Association of Fuerteventura is screened.

Recently, the mayor of the City of Puerto del Rosario, Juan Jiménez, accompanied by the Councilor for Culture, Juan Manuel Verdugo, signed a collaboration agreement with the president of this non-profit association for the study and dissemination of astronomy and astrophysics, Carmelo Cabrera, for the implementation of this exhibition that has been promoted from the Department of Culture to expand the cultural offer of the municipality during the coming months and to promote culture, in this sense, through astronomy.

The mayor of Puerto del Rosario, Juan Jiménez, invites and encourages citizens to enjoy this exhibition of the "spectacular skies that can be observed from this island, and also from our municipality, as it should be remembered that the Astronomical Association of Fuerteventura manages the Observatory located in the Tefía Hostel, where different activities are developed throughout the year for all types of public in order to share and teach the richness of our sky."
For his part, the Councilor for Culture, highlights the important work carried out by the Astronomical Association of Fuerteventura in protecting, since its inception, the skies of Fuerteventura, "on the one hand to get the seal of Starlight Reserve, the seal of Starlight Destination and Starlight Villages, as well as to get the approval of an Insular Ordinance of Sky of Fuerteventura that controls the lighting of public lighting and, for this, it has been promoting introductory courses and advanced courses on general astronomy, courses for Starlight monitors and other proposals around astrophysics and astronomy related to the island, among others.
