Casa Winter visiting Cofete

Reading on TripAdvisor the reviews about ill treated dogs put me off about visiting it, but maybe next time we will.
Did the walk from Morro jable up to the ridge then turned back, the views are definitely worth the climb!

Me and the missus are going to attempt the road to Cofete, is it as bad as people make it out to be.

Best in a four x four .  And if you are in a hired car your insurance will be invalid if you have a mishap, so I am told.

Made it twice in a hired little car don't need a 4x4. Just careful once you get to the beach, park up early as saw a few people get stuck in soft sand (but all made it out in the end)
It's quite obvious where soft sand is.
The road down to the initial car park is easy.

I did this drive about 2 weeks ago.
You dont need a 4x4 if you stay on the main road. Dont attempt any of the sideroads before the main town. Most have large washouts and can be dangerous in a non 4x4 vehicle.
I would suggest parking early in the down and walking the rest of the way.
As others have said, rental companies will likely not cover you out there, if you get a puncture you will need to use the can of goo that's supplied by the company.

We wanted to spend a day on the beach, but it was too wavy and windy, so we turned around and went back to Morro.

Please Note: As tempting as it is... It is very illegal to drive on the beach. Locals will report you as the beach is a protected area.
Some locals have special permission to drive on the beach to attend to livestock in remote areas. If you see a local doing something, dont assume its ok for everyone to.

p.s. there are various car routes that go over the mountains, these are 100% not suitable for non 4x4 cars, and most lead to nowhere.
