Why is it even necessary to have a thread title “length” as in minimum number of letters/spaces ??

Partly it stops people posting thread titles that nobody is going to read. If somebody posts
Quote: A!
the odds you'll look are much lower than if they posted something you're interested in.
It also makes life a little harder on spammers.

This might end up being a long post - some will be offended, but thats ok, you have your perspective, I have mine. Thats what makes us all so unique and individual.
We are all humans, and we all have our own thoughts, our own interpretations, own passions, own perspectives.
We have been blessed to have this unfathomable tool called the internet, that allows us to communicate, connect, share, and bond together.
The internet simply allowed us to do things that we have always done our whole lives, commune & communicate. This is something as old as time itself, and modern communities such as this do not differ from communities of thousands of years ago.
In communities of old, you would either be born into it, or ask to join. There would be elders and leaders who set the rules for the community to ensure its expansion and growth. These elders possessed wisdom and knowledge that would influence their decisions and rulings - that the majority of the members were not privy to or simply did not see the whole picture.
By joining a community you were expected to follow their rules, to respect everyone, to show compassion and care for others, and realize that you are joining them - not the other way around.
If you did not like a community or its elders, you could either leave of your own accord (and look for another community) or raise your issues with the elders and seek clarity - not seek them to change.
Some communities were based in valleys, focused on growing food, with everyone taking their equal share of work vs reward. They had a simple structure for leadership, with everyone knowing and respecting the rules. Some people today sadly call this communism... But it led to some of the greatest thriving communities in our history.
Others were based in mountains or plains, focused on anything and everything, with people being selfish, fights, clashes with other clans, wars and battles. The leadership was whoever was strongest, or whoever dared to challenge. Some people today call this barbaric... but it led to some of the most interesting stories in our history.
Today, we have a hybrid of both systems, "Elected" leaders who lead us and our communities (countries). This took away the old way of smaller communities, replacing it with larger single leadership spanning millions of people. (I wont go on about politics)
Online communities do not differ from the old ones.
The Admin/Founder went and found some empty land and built a well (a site) - painstakingly.
He then invited others, told them about his aims, and asked them to join him.
It takes months and years for a community to grow from just being a handful of people.
The Admin/founder starts to seek out helpers and moderators to assist with the needs of the growing community.
There becomes a need for more rules to ensure that they stay true to the Aim and Goal of the community.
Everyone is allowed to join so long as they follow these rules.
Not everyone who joins the community will agree with everything. Not everyone will stay.
But this is a story as old as time itself.
Those who do join, accept the rules even if they disagree with them - will be able to reap the benefits of the community, with all its resources, all its knowledge, and its wisdom.
--------------------------
The internet is not free.
You do not have a right to anything on the internet just as with life.
There are rules that you must follow, contributions you must make, changes you need to make to yourself, in order to benefit from a community.
Joining a community is not a right. But there is always a right community for you.
Ask for clarification about rules in a kind way and you will learn more about the aims and desires of the community you wish to join.
Declare, Demand and Shout, and its likely you will be outcast from the community.
We are all here to learn, share, ask and love this island we have called home.
We can do this in many ways, but must remember that this is a community like the days of old, with elders and leaders who know more than we do, who make decisions and rulings that affect us. Accept this just as you accept the law of the land you live in, and you will find this community to be very very bountiful.
Else, There are others that you might find more to your liking.

As you rightly said a long post and a lot of valid information, but it reveals nothing any half sensible person would not already know, what I am missing however is what exactly this has to do with Fuerteventura? which is what this forum was set up to be about.

And yes, it was long and needed a TL;DR
“Needed” would be a matter of opinion

Sorry Sam I cannot agree, I have re-read the post and as I have said I see no relevance to Fuerteventura, all the info is valid but none of it is new pother than " Source: I am a member of over 100 specific communities on a wide range of topics not talking about FB Groups) An "Elder" and "Leader" in over 30, and someone who prefers the carrot to the stick." Which IMHO is a tad self promoting and of no relevance to Fuerteventura, or of interest to anyone.
Furthermore the comment on Spitfire's post " The same can't be said about some of your posts. " is a cheap shot very Trump-esque also totally uncalled for, I will not comment on this subject again as I have wasted too much time on it already so will let it end there.

Sorry you felt this way, was not my intention.
I strongly beleive when adding opinions its a good idea to share why you have that perception, or what your source is. I will often append a "Source:" to posts all over the place.
But I see your point.
Would edit but cant seem to anymore.
@Johnrgby - if you feel that there is some useless info in the post, I am open to receiving a revised post from you and asking Sam to edit.
Or Sam can go forth and just edit the post - I am ok with that too.
If anyone else feels very strongly that they wasted their time, send me a PM and I'll send you some beer Money as a token of appreciation/apology.

Is there anyway we can close this topic down please. The individual who caused the problem has, at their own request, left this forum, so continuation of this thread is somewhat irrelevant.
I see echos of the dark side forum emerging here, and I don't want this forum to slip into those ways.
Please, lock the thread.
Tom.
