Cheaper bus travel for residents

Radio Sintonia:

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through the Ministry of Transport, will apply an additional discount of 50% to users of the Canarian resident, retired and disabled people vouchers. In this way, Fuerteventura adheres to the measures put in place by the State to reduce the amount of interurban transport vouchers, which will be applied from September 1, and which will be in force until December 31, 2022.

In order to cope with the increase in the price of both energy and fuels caused by the context of the war in Ukraine, the Council of Ministers approved on 1st August the Royal Decree-Law on economic sustainability measures in the field of transport, for recurrent users. The Ministry of Transport of the island institution, joins these measures to contribute to the citizenship that has been affected socially and economically, after the increase in fuel costs.
For the president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Sergio Lloret, "this measure is another example of the commitment of the Government group to bet on public transport and to support students and users of this service. From the insular institution a great economic effort has been made to continue expanding the bonds and it has been reflected in the increase in users of public transport in recent months".
Through these bonuses, the use of public transport continues to be promoted "not only for the economic savings it represents for users, but, in turn, it is another step towards energy saving and sustainable mobility", explains the counselor, Carmen Alonso.
Thus, the cost of recharging the Canarian Resident Voucher for the island of Fuerteventura is reduced from 20 to 10 euros per month, with an unlimited number of trips, while the Social Bonus for retirees and people with disabilities will go from 1 euro to 50 cents each way.

In addition, as a complementary measure, the Ministry of Transport will finance 100% of the Student Voucher with the island Corporation's own funds, which will have zero cost for its users. In order to enjoy this measure, the bonus must have a balance on the card. In case of not having a balance, interested users must make a recharge from which they can benefit once the bonus period has ended.

The Ministry of Transport of the Cabildo has an extensive service of transport vouchers for all people in Fuerteventura, such as the BTF Card of special category nominated, the BTF Card of general non-resident category and the Canarian Resident Voucher, to encourage the use of the regular passenger service, increase the number of passengers and contribute to the reduction of the carbon footprint.
From the Ministry of the Ministry of Transport, the owners of the Canarian Resident Bond are reminded that they must wait for the expiration of the existing recharge, in order to benefit from this new measure. On the other hand, users of the rest of the nominative transport vouchers dependent on the Island Council are encouraged to apply for the Canarian Resident Voucher, which is the one that enjoys the greatest benefits.
Those interested in obtaining the Voucher must make their application through the electronic headquarters of the Island Council of Fuerteventura or, in person, requesting "prior appointment" through the official website of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura. The documents to carry out the procedures for the request of any type of bonus can be found on the website http://www.cabildofuer.es/cabildo/areas-tematicas/transportes-movilidad-y-accesibilidad/transportes-y-comunicaciones/
The application for the Canarian Resident Voucher must be accompanied by an updated passport size photograph (3 cm x 2.5 cm), identity document of the applicant (DNI/NIE/Passport), and certificate of registration or accreditation of residence in force in any of the municipalities of the Canary Islands.
