The Plaza de Antigua hosts the First Cheese Fair.
TheCity Councilof Antigua from the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries organizesthe I Cheese Fair on Friday, December 9, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 December in the Plaza de Antigua.
We fulfill a commitment to the sector, offering a showcase of the different cheeses that are made in the cheese factories of the municipality and the island of Fuerteventura, also participating cheese factories from other islands of the archipelago, says the mayor, Matías Peña García.
The Plaza de Antigua will host the I Cheese Fair financed by the City of Antigua that allocates approximately 50,000 euros for this purpose, in compliance with the commitment we acquired with the professionals of the sector to support their presence in the Municipality and the island, not only as an alternative economy for many families but as a sign of identity that we must maintain, adds the municipal councilor.
To value cheeses, promote their sale, promote their consumption as a high quality and healthy product, show the main cheese factories, producers and brands whether small, medium or large, is the objective of this I Antigua Cheese Fair, says the Councilor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Fernando Estupiñán.
The I Antigua Cheese Fair will offer an attractive program of performances, tastings, related Tapas and competitions among the participants.
A Fair where to expose the derived products and cheese as the main protagonist, which serves as a meeting platform to evaluate the sector and demand the improvements that are needed, and adds the councilor, a Cheese Fair that serves as a reference to consumers and that highlights, how linked we are to cheese, to livestock, to the goat, and ultimately to the primary sector.
