Los Pozos beach will host the first edition of the Malpey CrossFit Games 2022
Los Pozos beach will be the scene of the first CrossFit competition to be held in Fuerteventura: the Malpey CrossFit Games 2022. The next days 24 and 25 September, from 9.00 to 21.00 hours, you can enjoy a whole show of this sport such as CrossFit, increasingly booming, in an unparalleled environment such as the beach of the capital majorera, where the emotion of this discipline will test the best athletes of the moment who will have to demonstrate their strength, resistance, balance and speed in the most demanding tests of this sport modality that, every time, arouses more interest among citizens, even in people who do not practice the sport.
In addition, this first edition of the Malpey CrossFit Games 2022 will bring participants and companions from other islands of the archipelago and also from the peninsula, so the binomial tourism and sport will be quite present, generating great benefits in the local economy and in the tourist promotion of the municipality.
In total, 146 athletes will participate both locally, regionally and nationally from other Spanish locations such as Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Tenerife, Lanzarote, La Palma or Gran Canaria, among others. To obtain the maximum score in a series of tough eliminatory tests, these CrossFit athletes have previously passed a pre-selection made by the team that makes up 'Malpey CrossFit', the specialized box that opened its doors in the capital of Fuerteventura a year ago in the Industrial Estate of Risco Prieto.
The mayor of the municipality, Juan Jiménez, indicates that "it will be a beautiful occasion to witness this sports discipline that makes a hole between the sports of the island and our municipality, promising all the emotion and all the live spectacle of one of the most attractive disciplines of the moment. Therefore, I want to transfer the best of luck to all those athletes who will participate, as well as encourage all the residents of the municipality and the island not to miss this emerging sports show that, without a doubt, is generating more and more followers . "
For her part, Sonia Álamo, the councilor of the Sports area that sponsors this first CrossFit competition held in Fuerteventura, points out that, from the City Council of Puerto del Rosario, "we are very happy and grateful to the Malpey CrossFit box for bringing this sport modality to the public and for choosing our municipality to launch this first edition of the Malpey CrossFit Games, that we are sure has arrived to consolidate."
In addition, the councilor said that "in the municipality we have several CrossFit boxes and, as we do with other sports and clubs, we want to transfer that they have our full support and collaboration for everything they need".
