Hi John
Don't UK Gov lump the Canaries in with Spain and the Balearics, currently all on the Amber list?
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-an...amber-list
Or is there scope for separating the colour coding designations according to Mainland, Canaries, Balearics Covid case rates, as there is with Portugal (currently Amber) and Madeira & Azores (currently Green)?
Other UK Gov travel advise websites don't seem to differentiate, other than for those seeking to register for vaccinations by region https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice...oronavirus
I am pretty sure, but far from certain, that they have in the past separated The Canaries and The Balearics, from the mainland

I thought so too John, but as we didn't have anything booked back then it was less of an issue for us, so I wasn't paying particular attention.
Bearing in mind the examples of Portugal, Azores and Madeira that I mentioned, UK Gov appears happy to assess mainland European countries and their respective island territories separately.
We have our fingers crossed for
October /
November.

Can anyone clarify what test I need to enter the UK? The UK Government advice for returnees from the Canaries is it is
recommended a PCR test is taken.
see link
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-...to-england
Last time i went back I had a lateral flow test which was accepted without question, and it does say they are valid.
Recommendation does not mean mandatory in my view.
Has anyone been back to the UK recently with a lateral flow test, and any issues?
Thanks

Yes lateral flow fine. This is the way it's going in future I feel.
PCR tests in future needed only to identify variants.
I am afraid I have not been paying much attention to what is required to fly to and from the Uk, as I have no intention short of a nuclear holocaust of returning to the UK in this lifetime, and we were not expecting visitors before 2022

now we have family coming

, so can someone tell me what if anything they require to fly here, Ryan Air out of East Midlands, I know they are double jabbed, so is there anything else? Locater form? if so where does that come from

You are correct John, vaccine certs and Spanish locator forms. But as you say your family won't be out till 2022 so thngs may have changed, hopefully for the better by then.

Straight forward John. Download the NHS vaccine document so it can be uploaded to
Ryanair. Do the Spanish Locator form but you need the seat number on the flight to do this. If they can get back into the correct part on
Ryanair they can upload it. Take the Locator form response with the QR code on it and a hard copy of the NHS vaccine certification with them as there are random checks after passport control in Fuerteventura airport.
At East Midlands
Ryanair wanted to see the Spanish Locator form and the Vaccine Certificate and Boarding Pass. It was all very organised. We found having hard copies easier than hunting through phone emails but they can be used as well.

We've opted for the belt an braces approach, so have applied for NHS letters of
COVID Vaccination Confirmation.
Apply here:
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronaviru...ss-letter/
It took only three days for our letters to arrive from what appears to be an automated system.
