Customer Service - A Question?
#1
Here’s a question to ponder, as I find the levels of customer service decline like I don’t know what.
We a group of 5, were in a top class restaurant in Caleta de Fuste the other evening. The waitress who also happens to be the owner while serving us drinks managed to spill several bottles of water from the tray down on top of me. Now she was so sorry and apologised, I was like a drowned rat and had to change my clothes.
The drinks were replaced, the meal as served and later the bill called for.
What would you expect to happen ?

I would personally expect some discount, and if you were where I think you were it is very unlike her.
To me drinking responsibly means do not spill it.

I was offered nothing except the bill, not even a round of drinks to say sorry. Very poor sho.
I did say I was disappointed that the inconvenience was not recognised on the bill and she asked what I meant !. Strange I’d say if the same had happened to her and her family when they were all eating together in Fado Rock the previous night.
Anyway I said I would have expected a gesture and she then said 10% discount, I kindly told her that this is what I would have expected as a resident discount like I always got from her mother and father in the past, and like what I get in numerous other establishments, she eventually offered 15% which I accepted.
It’s left a very sour taste in the mouth, especially as this is or was one of our favourite restaurants and we would nearly always eat there on each of our visits to Caleta.

Why do you expect to get 10% off for being a resident?

Since I have been coming here when I bought my first place I have frequented the same quality restaurants and bars, the owners know me and automatically give me the 10%, they always get it and more back in tips.
