Cycling event Fudenas - 29 & 30 Oct 2022
#1
Radio Sintonia:

The more than 3,000 cyclists of Fudenas will travel Fuerteventura on October 29 and 30.

The month of October will once again host the civic-military cycling event "Fudenas" that will travel the island from north to south. Specifically, they will be on October 29 and 30 and in this edition will have the participation of more than 3,000 cyclists from all corners of the archipelago, as well as much of the peninsula. It is the most important mountain bike race in the Canary Islands, which in its 15th edition will take the start in Corralejo again to arrive in the first of the two days to Morro Jable, thus joining more than 150 Km of distance through an itinerary where more than 90% is done through roads, tracks and paths, allowing participants to enjoy unique landscapes of the island of Fuerteventura.

Today a sponsorship agreement has been signed between the Tourist Board of Fuerteventura and the organization of Fudenas, so that, as every year, the race will promote the island among all its participants, being a great showcase of the island among all athletes. The signing ceremony was attended by the president of the Cabildo, Sergio Lloret, the vice president and Minister of Sports, Claudio Gutiérrez, the Minister of Tourism, Jessica de León, Colonel Isaac López, Lieutenant Colonel Roldan, Major Warrant Officer Aparicio and Corporals Hernández and Abrego.

While the race modality will be carried out in a single day, the route will be completed in two days, stopping on the first day in Antigua, halfway through the route, to finish the next day in Morro Jable. This will allow participants to enjoy landscapes of spectacular beauty such as the nakedness of the plains of Antigua, the view of the Sacred Mountain of Tindaya or the spectacular passage through Morro Velosa and the beach of La Barca, on an island declared in its entirety Biosphere Reserve in 2009.

During these fifteen editions, the Soria 9 Infantry Regiment has managed together with the Cabildo of Fuerteventura to consolidate and give solidity to FUDENAS as one of the great sporting Events of the island that, edition after edition, brings together thousands of runners and generates an indisputable direct economic impact of more than 2 million euros.

In addition, this test helps to consolidate the island as a destination for the sports practice of mountain bikes, a booming segment in Fuerteventura, since, although the runners come to the island as participants of the test, they later retain their visit attracted by the Weather conditions for sports practice. This factor brings a seasonally adjusted value to the destination since they can come in the middle or low season. In addition, it is a customer with a lower price sensitivity than the usual tourist, since they have a medium-medium high economic level. In fact, in the case of FUDENAS, they usually visit the island as a family, so they are attributed an expense in destination higher than the average.
This event was born in 2006 with just 200 runners and in just 15 editions it has become consolidated as the most important mountain bike race in the Canary Islands in its modality.
