Dreamland Studios? Is it all over for FV??
#31
I have no problem with the element of the project reported in Tamara's post, I do however question the proposed theme park element and the location having driven up and down the motorway behind Montana Roja twice in the last 10 days.

The promoters of Dreamland explain their project.

"The amount of hoaxes and manipulations does not dent the will to bring economic diversification to Fuerteventura".

What we knew a few years ago as the future, is already here. And the island of Fuerteventura "has the opportunity to open its doors to stop being a mere spectator, and become the main protagonist of this advance," say the promoters of the Dreamland Studios project.

In a statement, those responsible for the project show through a video [that heads this information] how Dreamland Studios Fuerteventura will be, the city of cinema that will place the island at the forefront of audiovisual production. "Dreamland Studios is the most ambitious film and technology project in Europe. It is the perfect symbiosis to make Fuerteventura the leading territory of the sector in the old continent, on an area of 160,000 square meters destined not only to the execution, but also to the creation of content", they point out.

The largest set in Europe and a Water Tank

In the area destined to the cinema we find the largest film set in Europe, with 6,000 square meters; Two sets of 2,500 square meters, a water tank of 1,600 square meters, warehouses for dressing rooms and creation of sets and a building for production and post-production, with assembly and projection room. A space intended to house those who wish to shoot their productions in a place endowed with maximum privacy, highlights the statement.

Laboratory for AAA, AR, VR and supercomputing video games

Another space is destined to the Dreamlab, a laboratory in which patents and experiences of virtual and augmented reality, AAA video games and supercomputing will be carried out, thanks to the most powerful server on the market, the ALISIOS supercomputer, emphasize the project's poromotors.

Next to the laboratory is the Audiovisual Arts Training Center, where young people from Fuerteventura and the Canary Islands in general, will see the possibility of training to perform highly qualified positions in the industry.

Next to the laboratory is the Audiovisual Arts Training Center – "where all young people from Fuerteventura and the Canary Islands in general, will see the possibility of training to perform highly qualified positions in the industry" – and a Multidisciplinary Amphitheater in which to enjoy holographic and other shows, which will be developed from start to finish in Dreamlab, Added.

"In our walk through Dreamland Studios," the statement continues, "the next thing we find is an area for restoration, for users and visitors. A restaurant and two cafeterias, where the endemic product of Fuerteventura will be the protagonist". In this area, those responsible for the project emphasize, there will also be a store to purchase Dreamland merchandising, which can serve as a souvenir of the visit. This space will be for public use, such as the Amphitheater, the Museum of the Future and the Technological Leisure Center. Two centers that, although they resemble more a museum than a theme park, will offer virtual reality experiences that will be developed in Dreamlab and, later commercialized, they need.

Dreamland Studios is a window to the future

All this makes up Dreamland Studios, which will also have common areas, heliport and a parking lot that will supply the entire project thanks to the use of state-of-the-art solar panels. "A space committed to the objectives of sustainable development, which comes to diversify the industry of the Canary Islands. What we knew a few years ago as the future, is already here. And the island of Fuerteventura has the opportunity to open its doors to stop being a mere spectator, and become the main protagonist of this advance", conclude those responsible for the project.

Dreamland Studios will pay a scholarship of 600 euros per month to its students while they are training.

The audiovisual and content creation industry will train hundreds of young majoreros and from all over the Canary Islands.
Dreamland Studios, once it obtains the final approval of the declaration of insular interest, will immediately begin the selection of personnel for the training process with subsequent hiring in the project. The training that will be given will include several lines, the most significant will be those related to the technological and audiovisual field, although its training and recruitment offer will be extended to all activities that can be developed in its facilities.

High-skilled professionals such as 3D developers, Augmented Reality, video mapping, scriptwriters, image and sound engineers, cameras, computer scientists, divers, graphic designers among others will be required. All professions that have to do with the development of cinema, video games, supercomputing and the digitization of the image, have a place in Dreamland.

In addition, this mailbox is also open for the other jobs to be filled, among others, administration and central services, marketing and marketing, maintenance, etc.

In this way, Dreamland will begin to materialize one of the most important parts of its project, the training of staff and their subsequent incorporation into Dreamland Studios.

During the training process, which will last between twelve and eighteen months depending on the training program, all people will receive a minimum scholarship of 600 euros per month.

This training process will involve a minimum of 500 people who will be distributed between the islands of Fuerteventura (with a minimum of 300 people), Gran Canaria and Tenerife, with a minimum of 100 people in each of them. The training provided by Dreamland Studios will allow extensive recruitment for highly qualified positions.

40% employability of trained personnel.

At the end of the training period at least 40% of the students will be hired by Dreamland Studios, including the audiovisual part and the technological part. This will allow, beyond the employment data, to create the basis for developing an industry on the island around a digital and audiovisual revolution increasingly settled among us.

Requirements

Depending on the branch in which each student wants to specialize, the access requirements will be different, since the training programs will specialize in the trades to be developed. As an example, the requirements will be different for those who want to carry out their activity in the film branch, than for those who want to work in the part destined to programming, the development of virtual or augmented reality experiences, or the development of video games.

Established emerging industry

The film industry, established in the last five years in the Canary Islands and with a direct economic impact of more than 150 million euros throughout the archipelago – and approximately 100 million more thanks to the tractor effect it represents – accounts for around 2% of GDP in the Islands.

It becomes part of one of the emerging sectors in the Canary Islands, a sector that increasingly represents an alternative to the tourist monoculture of the Archipelago.

Tamara: this all sounds quite good and I hope it comes to fruition but really? As far as I'm aware the first stone hasn't been laid for the buildings yet ...... 'cart before the horse' comes to mind! At the rate things normally move on this island, any youngsters signing up will be drawing pensions before they get their chance at Dreamland!!

The population of Fuerteventura turns to Dreamland Studios.

In less than 48 hours more than 1,000 registrations in the Training and Employment Exchange of Dreamland Studios.

The promotion of the audiovisual sector as a lever of economic change in Fuerteventura has been recognized by the majorera population, which has flocked to the call by Dreamland Studios. These are mainly people who want to train to work in the audiovisual and digital industry.

Cinema, video games, virtual reality, augmented reality, animation, 3d, or even robotics are concepts, business models and ways of life with which a new generation has become accustomed to living together, and in that sense the majoreros are not far behind.

"Fuerteventura has the same concerns in this regard as the rest of the planet, the universality and transversality of the new cultural models motivate the citizens of Fuerteventura equally", point out from the communication department of Dreamland Studios.

In this sense, the call that Dreamland Studios took out in a "landing" last Friday to sign up for the company's Training and Employment exchange "has become an avalanche of applications". "More than 1,000 people have signed up for this initiative that we launched on Friday, 80% of the applications come from Fuerteventura, which gives us the measure of how this project is key in the development of the future of the island".

It is studied to expand the places before the wave of requests

In this way and "given the success of the initiative" of this Training and Recruitment plan, Dreamland Studios affirms that it seriously considers "the increase of training places to accommodate the maximum number of interested people among the population residing in Fuerteventura and the Canary Islands".

Lack of specialized personnel

The real need for personnel trained in these technologies is one of the European keys in all the digitalization policies of our environment. Europe estimates that it needs 500,000 people trained in the digital and audiovisual world every year if it does not want to be left behind in relation to the Asian powers or the US.

"The audiovisual industry model for Fuerteventura requires a lot of talent, and in this way the island can be the germ of another work model based on technology, the majoreros know it and that is why they look for an opportunity in this world that gives them alternatives to a future based on hospitality only, "say the promoters of Dreamland Studios.

"This training initiative is fundamental for the project, it takes a lot of specialized personnel. We count on the facilities at full capacity for the development of digital, audiovisual, Virtual Reality and augmented production and also, with the sets underway, more than 1,500 people can work directly in our facilities "

Another social reality

The overwhelming social response congratulates the promoters of the initiative, "although we are clear that this is the social reality of Fuerteventura, and this is the path of the future, it is true that so many requests, and in such a short space of time, has filled us with satisfaction. We expected a good response, but this is an avalanche."

"It compensates for the noise of a few and so many false news that try to distort something that has been developed by the economic future of the majoreros," say the promoters, "this is social contestation," they conclude.

"Nobody has to explain how this sector grows, but even less to young people, they do know the importance of the audiovisual and digital industry, and its growth potential. The ability of this model to act as a tractor that pulls for a new way of understanding work on the island is one of the keys to the future."

Dreamland Studios, once it obtains the final approval of the declaration of insular interest, will immediately begin the selection of personnel for the training process with subsequent hiring in the project.

Last Friday a simple form was issued, in which interested parties can fill in the training level they have, their specialty and the specific interest in the area in which they would like to work. This request that continues to be active in the social networks of Dreamland Studios and in the digital media that are echoing it, is a reflection of the interest that the population of Fuerteventura and the Canary Islands has in being part of this new audiovisual and digital industry.

The most demanded areas in this issued application have been for the moment those of the audiovisual sector, administration and central services and the technological and development area. However, applications have also been received to be part of the maintenance team of the facilities and other departments such as marketing and marketing.
