Radio Sintonia:
The Entallada Lighthouse opens to the public with the inauguration of 'Ancestral Art Africa Light'.
Museums of Fuerteventura will open to the public the facilities of the Faro de la Entallada as a museum space on November 4 with the inauguration of the exhibition 'Art Africa Ancestral Light', which collects creations of the peoples of the equatorial and tropical African strip.
This space of the Faro de la Entallada will be open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., and the exhibition can be visited until November 2023.
'Arte-África Luz Ancestral' is an exhibition with extensive international experience, having passed not only through islands such as Tenerife and La Palma, but also through countries such as Panama.
The exhibition is composed of 374 pieces that are part of the private collection of Guillermo Martínez Castro, who has been visiting different countries of the African continent for more than 25 years. The author of the exhibition has acquired throughout this time objects of artisans that belong mostly to a period between 1930 and 1950.
The Faro de la Entallada stands as the ideal space to host this exhibition, being the closest point to the African continent. According to Guillermo Martínez, the lighthouse has sometimes been the light that has guided dreams and hopes, as an ancestral guardian of round trips between both territories.
For the president of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Sergio Lloret, "the agreement reached with the Port Authority, last March, for the concession of use of this space serves to generate and strengthen sustainable tourism with actions such as this art exhibition".
The Minister responsible for Museums of Fuerteventura, Rayco León, defines the Entallada Lighthouse as "one of the most special and evocative places of the majorera geography for its uniqueness, location and evocative capacity for its connection with the African continent. Undoubtedly, it will become an unmissable point of visit for all those who reside and visit Fuerteventura".
Morro Velosa
Museums of Fuerteventura transfers its objective of continuing to give impetus to the network of centers and museums, with important reform projects. In the case of the Mirador de Morro Velosa, located in Betancuria, the Cabildo de Fuerteventura will undertake repair and adaptation works of the property for its next opening to the public, in coordination with the Ministry of Infrastructure.
In this way, a comprehensive reform project will be undertaken to facilitate the accessibility of the building, expansion of the outdoor terrace and space for cafeteria. The project of execution of the works foresees an investment of around one million euros, waiting for its tender this 2022.
Also, this November is expected the start of the restoration works of the Tostón Lighthouse, which were awarded for 247,253 euros. The objective of this project is to ensure the conservation and restoration of the property with work that consists of repairing those elements that present a significant deterioration caused by the marine environment and the passage of time. At the same time, work is being done to tender the cafeteria service.
