No you don't need a firestick if you have a smart TV (at least I don't with my Samsung) but you will need a VPN. I use getflix

Having said that, I think the easiest way to get uk tv is to get a firestick, then get a vpn that has an app that you can load onto the firestick - I use private vpn which works well. I've heard nord vpn also has an app you can load onto the firestick. 

Set the vpn to uk, login and then you should be able to watch bbc iplayer etc.

I think you’re right. The fire stick with VPN is the way to go. I thought I might get away with loading the app directly on my Smart LG TV and use it with a VPN but it wouldn’t let me load the app so it was a non starter. Just waiting to get the Fire stick delivered and hoping it comes before the World Cup kicks off!

Just download rapidstreamz to your firestick or smartphone, no need for vpn to watch UK TV wherever you are in the world free of charge.
