I have just tried again and there is no difference. Some strange things going on for instance the first entry point the NIF states 8 numbers and 1 letter
when I have always used my NIF which is 1 letter 7 numbers and 1 letter, so I do not understand that.

when I have always used my NIF which is 1 letter 7 numbers and 1 letter, so I do not understand that.

The NIE consists of an X or Y followed by 7 or 8 numbers, do not leave a space between the letters and the numbers and make sure the letters are capitalised.

Also make sure you use IE and its the newest version. Also make sure you have updated java.

I would also clear your cache as it may be putting in something which is creating the problem.

Thanks for your help Beach life.
I ended up taking another path. The links I had used before were all showing errors I contacted the help desk through the tax office they said it was due to me not having a digital signature.
I did not have one last year and they worked ok so maybe this is new or just on the IRL I used

I therefore went through on another IRL that does not require a digital signature which has worked fine the tax people never told me about this other option I just came across it.

The above explains it all I think, just got to pay it now !!
