The beach of Gran Tarajal is closed to the bathroom.
This Tuesday a water quality analysis was carried out on the shore of the beach whose result is expected to be known in the coming hours, but this Wednesday a deeper water analysis will be carried out. In addition, the City Council has demanded from the company Canaragua the hiring of specialized diver services to monitor the state of the emissary pipe to check its condition and rule out possible leaks.
This situation has been generated as a result of a stain located in the sea and the smell it emits. While it is true that it can be a stain caused by accumulation of microalgae that have been dragged to the beach, something that is not ruled out because there are numerous beaches on the island that these days face the presence of algae on its coast.
"In any case, we believe it is appropriate to prevent and therefore this morning early in the morning we have assessed the situation with the technicians and launched the recommendation not to swim on the beach of Gran Tarajal until we have full and sufficient guarantees that the state of the sea is optimal for bathing," said the mayor, Esther Hernández.
For his part, the Councilor for Beaches, Vicente García, emphasizes that "the priority now is to wait for the result of the water analysis and the on-site verification, which will be carried out in the coming hours by divers, of the state of the pipe of the emissary of Gran Tarajal".
The City Council of Tuineje will promptly report on the progress through the media and on the website and social networks of the city council. In addition, beach users can consult the information with the lifeguards of the beach itself.
