Since our last visit to El Cotillo there has been a welcome addition with the construction of
facilities for camper van users to the rear of the
Football stadium.
Fresh water on tap and a chemical toilet / waste water disposal unit should encourage more environmentally friendly sananatory disposal, rather than emptying of tanks and toilets in popular camping areas or trailing effluent on the roads and tracks, as some are inclined to do.

That’s a really good service to the area, when I retire to Fuerteventura my intention is to bring my camper van with me.

They could should have put it elsewhere,it was just easy to access the water supply there.
It is right on the corner from the supermarket and a major accident waiting to happen.
Also not aesthetically pleasing for those who are in plain sight of a constant queue of vans.
Also not pleasing to those who are deprived of water in Cotillo and then see some obtaining free water there.(But a handy source to fill up your own bottles)
A good idea in principle but not thought out and no consultation that I am aware of,and no monitoring on a regular basis.

Good point. And it’s going to encourage even more camper vans to El Cotillo. No one can deny they’re a blot on the landscape. Is there now an ‘authorised place’ where there can park overnight? If not, then they will park anywhere with the best views, regardless of whether they’re blocking the view of someone who lives there and pays their taxes, water, rates etc.
Cant see a benefit at all to encouraging camper vans. If anything, they should ban them from the village and make them park on the waste ground between Cotillo and El Roque or better still even further out of sight.

I actually gave you a thank you for your post, it is for making a post and your entitlement to your opinion even though I completely disagree with your content.
I think you may be tarring all with the one brush. I’ve had no experience of camper van camping around the Canary Islands, so I can only base my sentiments on how I camp in Ireland. I’ve only being doing it for 3 years now, but after the very first weekend away I was captured by the ease in which you can connect with nature, get out of the rat race for a few days, relax and enjoy a few beers wines, whiskies etc. listen to some music, read, go for a walk. …….
Try it sometime, you might enjoy it. But always remember never leave anything other than your footprints.
Your home is where you park it.
