Island seems much quieter

Having read this thread and seen Captains post re June airport numbers down again and his previous post that the other islands are up I thought I would d a bit of a check so did a Google search for a 3 room villa for 4 adults and 2 10year olds arriving  27/7 for 7 nights in the Canaries, Booking.com came up with a selection across the islands  and IMHO Fuerteventura is comparable with the other islands.

I then did a Sky Scanner flight search from Manchester for the same dates Fuerteventura £288, Gran Canaria £269, Tenerife £319 & Lanzarote £277 all per person return, so not a lot in it.

I think we should look at other reasons such as quality of accommodation, most of the rental villas around us are occupied at the moment and have been since we arrived 17 days ago.

I think general pricing in the Canaries as a whole is probably a big factor. From John’s investigation it would appear they are all pretty similar. If that is the case then one then has to look at the wider picture. Other destinations that are pushing for business will be drawing people on a budget away.
Turkey is probably one of the major influences at the moment. The exchange rate is good & the holidays are cheap, good Weather, beaches, nightlife etc. That’s all people want. Hard to fight that unless the Canadian government gets involved with price caps & a big advertisement push. IMHO

More Brits chose to travel outside of the European Union when booking their summer holiday this year, according to new figures. With Brexit now set to rumble on until at least October, it appears tourists are taking it upon themselves to ‘leave’ the EU for their summer break at least. Almost half of all package holidays booked through Thomas Cook – 48 per cent – are to destinations outside the block, the company said. That is up 10 per cent from the same time last year, it said. The tour operator said the weakness of the pound against the euro is the most likely cause for the increase. Turkey has seen the biggest rise in the number of people booking holidays there and accounts for a quarter of all Thomas Cook Airlines flight-only bookings.

I did a sky scanner from Dublin and prices in euro allowing for the fact that we are closer to the date here are the numbers and they haven’t changed that much. FUERTEVENTURA €358 Gran C €391 Tenerife NT €443 Lanzarote €404. All direct flights.

We tend to fly to either Barcelona or Madrid first. Not only are the prices lower but daily flights with better schedules. Most of the time a third or even a half of the plane is non Spanish. French,Italian etc. We're thinking of using Seville next year. 

Obviously if you're short of time this isn't a great option but it saves us Money.

Could this be the first of the Airlines to have a shortage of planes?

Ryanair has warned over plans to cut and close bases at airports from November until next summer as it said delays to Boeing's B737 Max aircraft would hit growth rates.

Just a couple of tips for those who may not be aware.

When booking a flight always use your "incognito window", this way company you are using to look at flights doesn't register your computers IP address, That way when you go back to the page the flight hasn't shot up in price every time.

Alternatively clear your cookies every time.
